We know that determining a student's unique needs and learning style is critical when designing an educational program or teaching strategies for a student with Down syndrome. While each student has particular strengths and challenges that need to be addressed, studies have proven that many commonalities exist between students who have Down syndrome.
It is our goal to support Orange County educators by providing information on proven techniques, approaches and materials that have been used in educational programs for students who have Down syndrome of all ages. Our Partners In Education Program is committed to supporting our educators and minimizing the staff time required to train and prepare by providing a forum where innovative, as well as tried and true program plans, strategies and tools can be shared.
The Partners In Education Program is designed to help increase educator knowledge and access to best practices and strategies supporting the education of student's with Down syndrome by:
- Offering ongoing access to up-to-date resources addressing all areas of potential educational need including curriculum, speech, behavior, fine and gross motor, as well as functional skill development
- Facilitating the sharing of curriculum modifications and accommodations created by educators for students of all ages and grade levels that can be used as templates
- Hosting an online network opportunity for educators and professionals serving students with Down syndrome to share ideas and materials, or trouble-shoot any issues that they might face in the classroom
- Providing phone support and additional site training as needed
We are thrilled to have your support!
